The Red Eye Tree Frog lives in the rainforests of Central and South America. Because of their unusual beauty and sensitivity to habitat alteration, they have become a symbol for saving the rainforests. They sleep during the day and feed and breed at night - their large red eyes allow them to see in the dark. This tree frog’s ancestry may date back 25 million years based on the discovery in 2006 of an ancient tree frog found preserved in amber in Chiapas, Mexico. |
