Ted Danson, who is a contributor to Water Voices (pages 52-53), is a princicpal and spokesperson for Oceana, gave a stirring and inspirational speech accompanied by graphic pictorials. OCEANA CAMPAIGNS TO PROTECT AND RESTORE THE WORLD'S OCEAN, and has teams of marine scientists, economists, lawyers and advocates working to reduce pollution and to prevent the irreversible collapse of fish populations, marine mammals and other sea life. Global in scope, Oceana has campaigners based in North America (Washington, DC; Juneau, AK; Los Angeles, CA), Europe (Madrid, Spain; Brussels, Belgium); South America (Santiago, Chile), and other regions. More than 300,000 members and e-activists in over 150 countries have already joined Oceana - making it one of the largest and most successful organizations of its kind in the world.
Sting and wife Trudie are the 1989 founders of the "Rainforest Foundation", which has, to date, successfully protected over 100,000 square hectares of rainforest habitat for the indigenous people and wildlife. Presently, the Rainforest Foundation is working on a plan to protect and conserve over one-million square hectares of our earth's fragile, life-giving rainforest. At this LA event, Trudie Styler delivered a moving speech that brought a standing ovation from an audience of over 400 people.

At this LA water event, Sting sang several songs, including "Message in a bottle", and he also sang two songs with Dustin Hoffman accompanying at the piano. 18 October 2008: over 300+ autographed copies of Water Voices from Around The World were distributed in VIP bags at the Oceana fundraiser that was attended by STING and a bevy (see above) of Hollywood talent and other environmentally conscious people.

29 September 2008: We received the following email from our water sister - Rosemary Olive Mbone Enie of Cameroon, Africa. Rosemary is a contributor to Water Voices (Pages 64-65) and serves as Africa's President and CEO of the NGO - Women's International Coalition (WICO) "I have done my best in promoting Water Voices in every country I have visited. I am presently in Spain to take part in the IUCN International Congress and I shall be exhbiting the book. I will next organize the launching of the book in Accra Ghana and Yaounde Cameroon then other capital cities in Africa.

15 March 2008: national television/radio program hosted by Leslie Marshall, aired a 30 minute interview at 7:30 PM EST, with William E. Marks on the world's water crisis and his two books. In the past two weeks, William was interviewed on over six radio programs broadcasting on over 900 stations around the world and reaching an audience of over 20 million.

28 February 2008: Director Irena Salina's film "FLOW: For Love Of Water" screened before a sold out audience at Lincoln Center on the evening of February 26. After the screening, there was an hour-long Q&A from the audience with the film's director, Irena Salina; the film's producer, Steven Starr; water author/activist, Maude Barlow, and water researcher/author, William E. Marks. A Lincoln Center reception followed the event with Barlow and Marks autographing books for over one hundred people.
26 February 2008: at Lincoln Center, the film "FLOW: For Love of Water", directed by Irena Salina, will have its East Coast premiere. After the film, the United Nations Ambassador from Tajikistan will make a speech commending the global importance of this inspiring water film effort, and will also mention Tajikistan's leading water role at the UN and its participation in the creation of our Water Voices book.
Tajikistan is the UN member that initiated the International Year of Freshwater, and the International Decade of Water. Following the film there will be a Water Voices booksigning at Lincoln Center with the UN Ambassador, the Publisher, and other book contributors.

23 February 2008: Water Voices from Around The World is now officially recognized on the United Nations website for its World Water Day Event taking place on 22 March 2008 on the global internet. Water Voices is sponsor of a Global Internet Water Poetry Contest. This international water poetry contest is orchestrated through the United Nations official World Water Day website. Water Voices is the only book composed with the cooperation of the sponsoring country for the UN's international Decade of Water.
17 February 2008: 'Water Voices' will be at Lincoln Center on 26 February 2008. After the screening of the film: 'FLOW: For Love Of Water,' the United Nations Ambassador from Tajikistan will make a speech about the importance of "FLOW" to helping the global water effort, and will mention the United Nations' water efforts as published in "Water Voices from Around The World." Tajikistan is the country that initiated the United Nations' International Year of Freshwater in 2003, and the UN's international Decade of Water in 2005. There will be a "Water Voices" book-signing at Lincoln Center directly after the "FLOW" film. There will be eight (8) people who have letters or articles published in "Water Voices" who will autograph the book at Lincoln Center. 10 February 2008: "Water Voices" was an intergral part of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival held in Park City, Utah. William E. Marks is featured in the film, "FLOW: For Love Of Water," and participated in the Q & A session after each screening. 1 July 2006: On the island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts - at Featherstone Center for the Arts, there was a gala opening for the month-long 'Water: Different Perspectives.' The opening included a display of water art in various media from many artists - as well as 50 oversized pages and poster-size photographs from Water Voices from Around The World. The book's Editor, William E. Marks, played solo Native American flute along with members of Featherstone's Native American Flute Circle. At the closing of the gala opening event - William choreographed a water ritual based on an ancient Hopi water and flute ceremony - which included flute and voice toning with audience participation, and a sprinkle blessing of the entire audience with sacred Vineyard spring waters collected from around the island - www.featherstonearts.org
2-4 July 2006: New Zealand film Directors/Producers, Thomas and Barbara Burstyn visited the Vineyard for three days to conduct interviews with William at various island locations for the water movie they are creating for international release in early 2008. Their recent film, 'How To Save The World' - has received various awards, including a first place award at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival (the world's biggest environmental film festival) in 2007. 28 July 2007: At the 16th Annual Native Music Festival in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, William gave a solo Native American (NA) flute performance along with a presentation about the ancient ceremonial relationship between the Native American flute and water.
1 August 2007: Established domestic and international sale and distribution of Water Voices from Around The World with AtlasBooks.
8 August 2007: Received a congratulatory email from the Jane Goodall Institute relative to the completion of Water Voices from Around The World, and its forthcoming release in early September. The book contains a letter from Dr. Jane Goodall (Pages 84-85) addressed: To People of the World, along with a two-page spread of photographs of Dr. Goodall interacting with children in a wetland setting located on the island of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, USA. www.janegoodall.org/
12-18 August 2007: During World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden - a four-color brochure is being distributed announcing the book debut of: Water Voices from Around The World. The brochure presents the cover of the book; the book's "Welcome" and "Contents" pages, along with an overview of the book's creation and significance. The book Water Voices from Around The World contains a two-page spread (Pages 214-215) explaining the history of the Stockholm Water Prize and its significance to the world of water. During this week in Stockholm, thousands of leaders will gather to discuss and present the world's water situation. 14 August 2007: Alan Steinfeld - Producer/Host/Writer of BBS Radio and Time/Warner TV, and Paula Gloria, New York City television Producer/Director - visited the Vineyard for three days. Alan did a live international one-hour interview on his BBS Radio program to introduce Water Voices Voices from Around The World to his audience. 15 August 2007: Irena Salina sent emails from India - she is helping Indian author water researcher Rajendra Singh, who is the founder of the NGO Tarum Bharat Sangh - ttp://www.tarunbharatsangh.org/. Rajendra received one of India's highest awards for his research and management efforts on behalf of water, and both he and Irena have letters in Water Voices from Around The World. Irena and Rajendra are both working to save the Yamuna river from being dammed near New Delhi. The Yamuna received its name from the Goddess Yami, and, like the Ganges, is considered sacred. The Yamuna is of major import in the Global Oneness effort, see – www.experiencefestival.com/yamuna_river. Irena is a film director/producer whose life was transformed while working on her water film - she recently stated that she is dedicating the rest of her life to help restore the balance of healthy waters to our Earth. The Taj Mahal (Pages 42-43) is featured in Water Voices from Around The World, and is located on the southwest bank of the Yamuna. It is believed that those who submerge themselves in the Yamuna’s waters will not be tormented by death.
16 August 2007: Jennifer Greene (Pages 88-89) - one of the authors in Water Voices from Around The World, is Director/Founder of The Water Research Institute of Blue Hill (WRI) located in Blue Hill, Maine @ http://www.waterresearch.org/. Jennifer telephoned to share new cutting edge concepts relative to her recent water research and educational outreach programs, and gave a brief evaluation of the worthiness of upcoming water conferences.
17 August 2007: Received an autographed copy of West Marrin's new water book, Altered Perceptions. West is also author of Universal Water. Altered Perceptions contains several internal and cover quotes from William E. Marks' book, The Holy Order of Water. 20 August 2007: Received a copy of Emily Conrad's new book, Life on Land: The Story of Continuum, The World-Renowned Self-Discovery and Movement Method. 20 August 2007: Received an autographed copy of Annie B. Bond's - Home Enlightenment: Practical, Earth-Friendly Advice for Creating a Nurturing, Healthy, and Toxin-Free Home and Lifestyle, and more. After suffering debilitating illness brought on by exposure to synthetic chemicals - Annie embarked on a voyage of self discovery and healing. 25 October 2007: Received email update from Rosemary Olive Mbone Enie, Rosemary's letter appears in Water Voices from Around The World (Pages - 64-65). Rosemary is now Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Women
International Coalition Organisation (WICO) International, based in London, England. She is using this book in her presentations and linking it to other organizations around the globe.
27 October 2007: Harinder Pal Kaur, from Mumbai, India (Water Voices letter Pages 108-109) - sent an email saying she received her copy of the book and is planning to attend the United Nations' launch of the book in spring of 2008.
30 October 2007: Received a telephone call and follow up email from author Freddy Silva, whose letter in Water Voices (Pages - 180-181) explores the relationship of water and ancient sacred spaces. Freddy travels the world giving lectures on sacred spaces and workshops on how to construct them. Freddy will soon have a DVD to help guide people in designing and constructing sacred spaces, or portals, of various sizes from local materials.
31 October 2007: J. Michael Read, President of Water Environment Federation (WEF) - (Water Voices letter Pages 152-153), sent an email of congratulations. Michael also placed an order for 12 books at the discount rate for authors who contributed letters to Water Voices.
4 November 2007: Received an email of congratulations from Maude Barlow (Water Voices letter Pages 28-29). Maude Barlow is the National Chairperson of the Council of Canadians, Canada’s largest public advocacy organization, and the founder of the Blue Planet Project working internationally for the right to water. She serves on the boards of the International Forum on Globalization and Food and Water Watch and is a Councillor with the Hamburg-based World Future Council. Maude Barlow is the recipient of six honorary doctorates as well as the 2005 Right Livelihood Award (known as the “Alternative Nobel”) and the best selling author or co-author of 16 books.
5 November 2007: Yee-Ching Lee, of Breath of Change, visited our Martha's Vineyard offices from New York and presented on the MVTV's "The Vineyard Voice" television program. Yee-Ching explained to the television audience how proper body hydration with water is a vital part of maximizing the health and healing benefits of her breathing techniques.
7 November 2007: Received a post card from folk singer, author Pete Seeger, (Water Voices letter Pages 174-175), expressing thanks for our Water Voices book effort along with the closing, "STAY WELL - keep on! old Pete" underscribed by his hand sketch of a banjo.
9 November 2007: Amy Vickers, (Water Voices letter Page 178), telephoned and gave a lengthy review of the need for an illustrated book such as Water Voices from Around The World. Amy will be using sections of Water Voices in her presentations. Amy just returned from a speaking tour around the United States relative to water conservation. Amy's book, Water Use and Conservation, is used as a guide post by many organizations (American Water Works Association, etc.), colleges, planners, and municipalities.
10 November 2007: Received the following email from Peter A. Wilderer, Stockholm Water Prize Laureate (Water Voices letter Pages 210-211). Peter A. Wilderer is author of many books; scientific abstracts, and is respected by scientists worldwide.
"Thank you very, very much for the book. I received it the other day, went through it and got deeply impressed. I like both, the wonderful photographs and the letters to the people of the world. It is a very important book, and it comes out just at the right time, when the political scene is so unilaterally focused on energy as if water would not play a role in the concert of climate change.
